I'm an interior designer and eight mistakes people make when decorating their bathroom

An interior designer reveals eight mistakes he sees people make when decorating bathrooms.
Nick from the US shared a video on YouTube where he can be seen not only discussing these issues, but also how to fix them.
“They can be a really good option for a lot of people because they’re easier to clean, it’s super easy to clean underneath, so there’s often a hygiene benefit there, and it’s a really nice, clean, modern design…” he explained.
“There are floating toilets and really great modern toilets that you might want to consider, and they might suit your design style better.”
He added: “It’s just a personal issue too, but I really don’t like the worm toilet…I really don’t like the one on the side of the toilet.”
Interiors have also noticed that people often have only one light in the center of the room and make the mistake of not adding any extra lighting.
“I love sconces in the bathroom – I think it’s a great way to add symmetry,” he says.
“If you have a larger vanity, you can place two different sconces above the mirror for a grander look, or a simple sconce above the mirror.”
“Certainly, you know I’m a huge fan of the groove lighting paper,” he continued.”So feel free to put it behind the bathroom mirror.”
“It can really be elegant and beautiful, and underneath your vanity — especially if you have a floating vanity — is another great way for you to add a little subtle glow.”
“If you’re really grand and have enough space, you can also install a pendant or chandelier on top of the tub,” added the interior designer.
Nick goes on to identify themed rooms as a major bathroom bug – especially the beach theme he often encounters.
“I’m not talking about the design style or the cookie palette – it would be great if it would blend into the rest of your home, which I am…” he explains.
“When you take it too high, you go beyond design style and subtle art, and you start to get into a tacky theme,” he added.
Nick says that the thick plastic shower curtains last much longer than they should, which is one of the nasty mistakes he sees often.
“If you want a plastic shower curtain, it’s obviously a waterproof material, but a shower curtain that looks more natural makes more sense and is a little more trendy than those that might have a giant plastic curtain or a tukan or jungle theme.”
“Grout is very important, and when you see these patterned tiles, there’s actually a lot more grout than you realize,” he said.
In fact, it’s a big deal to see which grout to choose compared to the tiles you put in your bathroom.”
He recommends choosing grout that closely matches the tile, if you want a subtle grout mix, but if you want a color that makes the tile stand out, he recommends going for the opposite.
He also urged homeowners to ditch the “fuzzy stuff” he sometimes sees firmly placed on the toilet lid.
“It would be great if you could pick it up and put it in the washing machine, but if it needs cleaning equipment, don’t put it in the bathroom,” he urged.
A barn door for a bathroom is not a good idea…let’s keep it as elegant as possible, but let’s just say there are other doors that are better for bathrooms.”
Nick also explained that with so much going on in the bathroom, there has to be a place to store everything from towels to toiletries.
“One of the things I love that a lot of people don’t think about is medicine cabinets … they’re really underrated — especially if you can get a medicine cabinet that’s plugged into the wall,” he said.
